I found the DIY for these envelopes on pinterest and instantly fell in love with the idea! It would have been even better if i had some vintage maps or book pages to use. Ah well, we must make do with what we have right? You will need: a regular envelope some fun scrapbook paper a glue stick or double sided tape a pencil Step 1: Take a regular envelope and unfold it then place it onto your chosen paper and trace around it with a pencil. Step 2: Cut out the shape you have traced onto the paper. Repeat the process with the paper you've ...

DIY Slouchy Beanie Hat
The other day I was checking out the Cotton&Curls blog when I came upon a tutorial for this slouchy knit hat. Immediately I was like "Oh my goodness, I have to try this!" What made it even better was that Lydia had just cleaned out our wardrobe and put a bunch of old clothes into bags to throw away. Absolutely perfect! Right away I cut up some knit shirts to make several different hats. This tutorial is super easy to follow and will only take 5 minutes or less. Enjoy! ...
DIY Lyric Wall Art
This painting was only a couple bucks at a garage so we weren't out much for covering it with this loveliness, it combined several wall art ideas I really liked (remember this?). So I thought I would share the D.I.Y. with you, hope you enjoy... 1. Find a painting you're not particularly attached since you'll be covering most of it. 2. Draw your design straight onto the canvas then trace the design with a hot glue gun. Let it sit for about a half and hour or until it's dry. 3. Paint around the design with whatever paint you have around the house, ...
DIY Chalkboard Paint Labels
All the jars in our spice cupboard are labeled with permanent marker which works well for a while but after a couple of rides through the dishwasher the permanent marker becomes a little bit less permanent. Not a good deal, after all you wouldn't want your dried mustard to get mixed up with your ground ginger. So I decided to take care of this problem. Thus, the solution! I painted chalkboard paint on the jars as labels. Of course it helps that it was a fun project and the mason jars now look fabulous! You will need : Chalk board paint ( I got mine at the local hardware store ...
DIY Canvas
Hey guys! This morning I was on pinterest and found a post which had a list of different ways to make wall art using canvas. I loved pretty much all of the ideas but the problem was I didn't have any canvas. Plus, some canvas can be pretty expensive if you want to make a set of wall art. So I came up with a solution, I scrounged up a couple of old shoeboxes and covered the lids with duckloth. It was perfect! It looked pretty much exactly like a regular canvas leaving me able to make this cute little set of wall art. The problem with using this DIY rather than just buying a regular canvas is ...
DIY Cosmetic Case
Hey everybody! I hope you all had a merry Christmas! I started this project yesterday and it was originally going to be something else entirely but then I saw this idea and liked it much better so I switched my plans a little bit. I am going to tell you how to do this the right way because I did it all wrong and it was a pain to make. I figured I would just save you the trouble by saying if you do this project don't substitute the Mod Podge for any other glue. Trust me on this one. That would be the reason this took two days. You will need: Mod Podge, whichever color of glitter you ...
DIY Mercury bottles
Hey guys! Christmas is almost here so this post is definitely a bit late. Ah well, its not like I'm known for being on time anyway. Every year Lydia decorates pretty much the entire house with wreaths, garlands, and ornaments galore so if you're not in the Christmas spirit by December 1st you will be soon! Lydia and I did a project for the fireplace mantle a couple weeks ago that was pretty cool so I thought I would share it with you guys. All you'll need is: Some old jars or bottles Krylon Looking Glass Mirror Like Paint (shown below) Paper towels A spray bottle full ...
DIY House scents
It's definitely getting chilly around here and as you can see we had our first fire in the fireplace a couple days ago. Its always somewhat of a big deal around our place because it means its officially fall. Since it is now officially fall, we have started thinking about the holidays. In the fall and winter time the house has a tendency to get cabin feverish and to smell a little stuffy and not freshish. Our solution is to simmer mixtures of scents and spices in a pan on the stove. It smells delicious and tends to make everything smell a bit more like the holidays. So I decided to share some ...
Chalkboard Paint DIY
Chalkboard Paint. Yay! Oh my goodness I love it so much! Thanks to this wonderful paint, my childish impulses to scribble on the walls are trying to take over! I want to paint my whole room with this. Anyway I need to get to the whole point of this post, chalkboard paint. For those of you who have never heard of it, chalkboard paint is something you can make on your own, you can paint any surface with it. Paint a wall with it and you instantly have a whole wall of blackboard. ...
DIY Outdoor Patio Furniture from Pallets
First off I would like to say "Happy Anniversary" to our house. We bought it last year on March 31st and we have already done a lot of work to it. It's so much fun to work on projects together. My husband is very good at a lot of DIY projects and he has done some amazing work around our house. One of my favorite things about our house is the fenced in back yard and patio with a carport roof above. My husband and I spend many evenings sitting outside on our patio enjoying the Texas weather, before it gets too hot. We love to entertain, and I had bought a little patio seating set last year but ...
