Hello friends! Today we've got a little something special for you. Now I know it isn't easy to wear a head wrap/turban in public, But sometimes it really can make the outfit and especially is a huge help if you're on like day three hair, and it's getting a little dirty, which we all should admit just happens sometimes :) With Lydia as our lovely model, we're going to show you how it's done. 1. Observe slightly dirty hair :) 2. find the perfect handkerchief or silky tie. If you can't find one in your grandma's attic, try the local thrift store. 3. fold it in half so the ...

DIY Tulle Skirt
Hello, Everyone! The rarely seen sassy sparrow blog post makes a return with an easy and cute tutorial! This turned out to be even more simple than we thought it was going to be and the total cost came out to be about $4. No joke. $4. And it makes you feel like your back in your 5 yr old princess dress ups. In a good way, I assure you. Hello, Everyone! The rarely seen sassy sparrow blog post makes a return with an easy and cute tutorial! DIY Herb Garden
Hello, lovelies! Each year we have a herb garden for our summer cooking and it is just about the most usefully wonderful thing we have ever done! Last year however we had it on our back steps and all the mangy cats that we have running around (we don't know why they stick around, it must have something to do with the fact that we feed them. Ugh...) kept knocking them off the steps and breaking them. So this year something different was in order. Here's a quick and easy (If you can run a driver) tutorial on our free standing herb garden. ...
DIY Black and White Lapelled Dress
Hello my Lovelies! We are sharing this super quick tutorial because it is literally so easy and fun how could we not? I had had my eye out for a nice little (not too little!) black dress for this refashion for a couple months, and then I found this black dress at our local consignment shop for less than 10 dollars. I found a super plain white collared shirt for a few bucks to take apart. (Insert evil laughter here) Let the ripping begin!! Here's the beginning dress. A little too short for my tastes and a little too boring. So the first step was to let out the hem and rehem ...
DIY 40’s Style Dress
This dress is the greatest thrift store find I have found in quite a while. Because it's twirly! Everybody needs to wear a twirly dress every once in a while. All I really did to change this dress was to take off the collar and take in the sides of the top and the skirt. After I ripped out the collar I just sewed the seam back up with black thread. Then I just put on the dress and pinned it until I liked the way it fit. And sewed it up with black thread. Tada! Quite simple. And another twirly picture because twirly dresses ...
Sun Dress Tutorial
Hi there! So we were inspired to make this dress by a movie we watched a couple months ago called the One-Hundred Foot Journey. We really loved the movie and fell in love with Marguerite's dresses. They were so simple and pretty we knew we had to have one, so we made one and here's a tutorial! To cut out the two bodice pieces measure the distance in between your shoulders in inches, adding in one or two inches just in case of difficulties later. You can always trim it down if it is too big. Then measure from the top of your shoulder to your natural waist ...
DIY Festive Pinecone Garland
Here's a little DIY for you last minute Christmas decorators! It's super simple and very cute and minimalist. You will need: Gold Spray paint Twine or ribbon Pine Cones Floral wire Technically you don't specifically need floral wire, It was just the only type of wire I could find at the time! Wrap it around and over the pine cone to make a loop. You can experiment with different ways to do this, but I held the pine cone upside down above some cardboard and painted it mainly from the base of the pine cone downward. String the pine cones onto ...
Before and After: 40’s Style Wool Skirt
I had good intentions of posting this last week on Monday, however our laptop chose the perfect time to crash. Unfortunately I did not have all of the finished pictures uploaded into blogger so guess who got to re-edit all of these pictures? Fun times, fun times. To get to the point, I've always loved the 40's. I mean really, when you look at women like Katherine Hepburn, Elizabeth Taylor, and Grace Kelly how can you not love their look? I love love love wool. It is always very easy to work with and quite flattering. So when I found this skirt for one dollar at a local thrift shop it was a ...
Fantastic Mr Fox baby shower
I had the privilege to host a baby shower for a dear friend this last weekend. She loves the movie "The Fantastic Mr. Fox" so we threw her a Fantastic Mr Fox baby shower. I couldn't find very many ideas for this shower when I went to Pinterest to look so I thought I'd post what we did so that it will be out there for anyone else wanting to do something similar. Gluten Free Cake (I like to cheat and use Betty Crockers Boxed mix) We put movie quotes that had to do with food on the table. "How can a fox ever be happy without, you'll forgive the expression, a chicken in it's ...
DIY Flower Crown
Every once in a while a trend hits that is just beautiful, and the flower crown trend is one of them! Lydia and I've been wanting to make one for quite some time so a couple weeks ago we went garage sale-ing and bought several floral arrangements for around 10 bucks, Score! We were so excited, people were probably looking at us like, "Why are they so excited about some flowers?!" But hey, do what you gotta do! So we whipped up this floral crown in no time, and I must say it turned out nicely! We also made a gold floral crown using our tutorial for paper flowers from a couple months ago ...
