Hello friends! This last New Years Eve, a few minutes after midnight, dad made a comment about this decade. Only he didn't say decade. In the fog of late night thinking, he said accidentally said century. This amused everyone to no end, but beyond that, it got me thinking. This decade has felt huge to me. Most of my life has been lived in it. All of my nieces were all born in it. Sassy Sparrow was entirely developed in it. In truth, it has felt like a century. But the luckiest century ever. We have known so many, and far less griefs. And I am equally grateful for both. 1. the ...
The Month in Photos: November 2019 (turkey day, folks.)
Well hello there! May I wish you a happy happy late thanksgiving. It was truly a lovely holiday for us, especially this year when we have so so much to be grateful for! The list is so long...let me list just a few to share the love with you. Sweet Afton! The newest addition to our family is of course absolutely perfect in every way.God's provision this year. Continuing to explore new areas of trust with Him, learning to follow even when I can't see the path in front of me...an inexplicable blessing. A family who's continued to learn to love. I think we've learned that a loving family ...
Month in Photos: October, 2019 (A VERY SASSY CHRISTMAS!)
Wow hope you guys can see these images okay...but I gotta tell you: when it comes to the open house we did at the beginning of the week, words fail. SO beyond blessed, and incredibly grateful for such an outpouring of love from our customers and friends! God has given us such a beautiful little platform that we could never have earned for ourselves. It's seriously insane to me that so many people care enough, to make the drive, show and and support us in that way. So to any of you that came this last weekend...I would like to extend a simply MASSIVE THANK YOU! You guys make it all ...
Month in Photos: September, 2019 (peaceful autumnal traditions)
Ah, the fall season is at last upon us. Apple cider, (or as Ember calls it, apple spider) cookouts, and...heat waves? You read that right. All my Illinois friends know how true this is. I think it almost hit 90 degrees today? It's October, people! This is not okay! And yet, we must endure. The traditions must be maintained at all costs. So yes. We're sweating underneath our flannels, its a bit too warm for roasting marshmallows over the open fire, but we shall. Traditions must remain unbroken :) 1. One of my favorite things we do in the fall time is hit up Rader ...
Month in Photos: August 2019
What a happy month it has been! A month that truly reminds me how much we have to be grateful for, how many privilege we too often take for granted, and how rarely we have any real troubles. It's easy for us to be brought low by the day-to-day drag of life... The bills need paid, we're out of coffee, the kitchens a mess, we're late for something...the usual run of things, but always taken at such a pace that it easily overwhelms. And yet, Iri's teeth came in. Lydia brought me a coffee, just to be nice. We're going camping this weekend. Why am I choosing to live in the nastiness of ...
Month in Photos: July, 2019 (complete and utter chaos)
1.Hello friends! Wow. Life has truly been a whirlwind this last month. As indicated by the fact that I'm only just now writing this post! Its been an amazing ride though, and I'm so grateful. Seasons like this are all about just letting go and enjoying the ride! Let me show you some snapshots of our craziness :) 2.Texas last weekend was just amazing! Went to visit our two brothers and their families that life there and it was just wonderful. We spent a lot of time in the pool, ate a lot of barbeque and of course got sunburned. We loved every minute of it! 3.We did make time to hit up ...
The most adorable shoes you will ever buy! (that’s a promise)
So a couple of months back we got approached by a representative of FSJ shoes. He wanted to do a collaboration, and of course we said yes! If you know us at all, you know shoes are one of our many passions. And a good pair of heels especially, are hard to find. So we picked a pair, waited anxiously for them to arrive, and have spent every moment since then loving them! Enough talking about them...let's take a look! Mind you, they were a bold choice. Pink shoes? But we just had to. And for pink shoes, they're shockingly versatile! They even allow me to break the unspoken rule of fashion: ...
Month in Photos: June, 2019 (so many coffee shops its like, not even funny)
Seriously guys...its kind of embarrassing. We really need to cut back on our coffee consumption. But it's just so good! And such a good way to support the locals! But really...its almost offensive how many we've visited in the last month. We need to calm down. Don't believe me? I'll prove it. 1. Okay, Coffee Steamer obviously. Just two blocks away, owned by friends and home of the cutest baristas around? How could we resist? Also, Ember is a big fan of the frozen strawberry lemonade. 2. Finlay spotted in the hippest spot in town, Half-Hazard Press! Love working with ...
Month in Photos: May, 2019 (summertime gladness)
I'm sitting peacefully in our library, with the sunshine streaming in, the sound of neighbors children playing coming through the windows, and soft music echoing in the room. I hope the start of your summer has been just a little like mine :) 1. A new product? Why, of course! More details to come! 2. This time of year, with school finishing up and summer festivities setting in, we often finally find time to work on tasks we've been putting on for...a long time. One of those was reorganizing our sewing room. And I know what you're thinking: this is the sewing room organized? ...
Month in Photos: April 2019 (so. many. summer. photoshoots.)
Hello, dear friend! It's a beautiful spring day, its lush and green outside, and sun is streaming in the windows. That was me, just trying to prep you for all the summery-ness to come. Cause when the sun comes out, we get excited. 1. This one is a favorite because this is the moment when Grace says "candid!" and we immediately laugh, artificially at first, and then sincerely! Good natural candids rarely occur. 2. And last weekend we had the absolutely loveliest weekend in Omaha, Nebraska, there for a friends wedding. Lydia is our expert Airbnb detective and always manages to find the ...
