This month was ABSOLUTELY beautiful. a taste of summer, a bit of r&r and lots and lots of time with Ember. Sound like the perfect month? I agree.

You’ve probably already seen photos from this trip, and you’re about to see many more. Sorry, not sorry. When I mentioned a trip to my grandma, she told me one thing. “Write it all down.” So I try to. I also like to take a lot of photos when the time is right, because I can be very forgetful.
And I don’t want to forget stuff like this 🙂

Also, another throwback from that lovely photoshoot we had. We got really tired at the end and needless to say…things got to be a bit goofy. I mean, what are we? seven years old?

Ember was a HUUUGE comic relief! Every “ruined” picture, like this one, is more valuable than the perfect one.

Also, prep for the open house! I know, i know, its only July, but we had to get started some time. This one is really going to be the best one yet! Hope you can make it.

Fireworks in Galena, lovely if you can ignore the massive swarms of mosquitoes! We found a pleasant little hill to watch from, and I loved every second of it.

Did I say things got goofy? they really, really, REALLY did.

We even got to tour President Grants home, it was amazing! The most unpleasant part was the bath situation, definitely. Just ew.

Unfortunately, before we were able to tour the home, we had to wait a considerable time out on the Grants front porch for the next tour. Despite this extreme inconvenience (can you believe how American we are? So impatient!) Galena was AMAZING, and we really hope to go back next year. The very best of small town U.S.A.

Finally, us girls had an amazing getaway a week ago, and it was really a dream come true. You have to do this stuff when you’re footloose and fancy free! This photo was taken on the beach in Michigan. I’m never going back to Florida, lets say that.
