Hey all! We thought we’d get around to posting about our family vacation actually in the same month. I know. Shocker. Anywho, we had such an amazing time! Going down we were worried about how hot it was going to be and bought approximately 100 cans of extra large sized sunscreen from Sam’s but after we got down there we discovered that the forecast called for rain. Every. Single. Day. It actually turned out to be a blessing in disguise because it let us do a lot more activity outside without having heatstroke and or sunburns that would land us sewing room bound pale girls in the emergency room.
Leah was the one the most convinced that she was absolutely not going to get a sunburn. Which meant that she sat under the umbrella most of the time but hey, she’s on the beach!
Us girls worked on our spikeball skills. And….. we still stink at it.
And no matter what, rain or shine we still got to spend time with our two littles. They grow up so fast! It was amazing.
Leah’s first and last venture into the ocean.
Be still my heart. Those baby blue eyes.
Caleb’s favorite game of the week was throwing three bean bags from his room down the stair and sending his gullible aunties (me) to go fetch them. However a good time was had by both parties so no hard feelings.
We celebrated four birthdays on vacation. Jacob, Aria, Alex and Leah.
Aria got a bitty baby from all her aunts and uncles and grandma and grandpa. Much to our gratification she took to it right away!
On one of our particularly rainy days we decided to have our own version of the olympics. And I’d say since we didn’t get any life threatening injuries it was a success!
The games involved volleyball, spikeball, some weird game where two people threw a ball and the rest of us ran back and forth in between trying not to get body slammed into the ocean. (pictured above) And our own special version of water polo. No rules included. I think the only rule that came into action was no tickling while wrestling for the ball. Punching scratching and biting were all allowed and encouraged.
We had a murder mystery dinner one night and it was an absolute blast. Grace and I turned out to be the partner’s in crime. But really, who’s surprised?
Somehow the day that we decided to take our family pictures turned out to be the rainiest day of all. What are the chances?
I think we came up with only one picture that wasn’t absolutely terrible. Take note of the squinted eyes and windblown hair. Except grace. And we’re pretty sure she’s not human.
Drew, Hannah, and Baby B making an appearance.
And this modelesque family. Seriously. So much beautiful in one picture.
Leah’s was the only birthday that actually took place while we were in Florida so we got to do the whole shabang.
Birthday breakfast and all. Doesn’t she look pleased?
In one of our brief spots of sunshine we went to an ice cream place. It was pretty delicious.
And here are our family pictures in the real struggle is real. Evidently we have to have a picture of all us making ridiculous faces each year. Just look at the faces.
Wow. We tried.
