So for Christmas Grace and I told Dad and Mom that we were going to fix them a five course gourmet meal. Well, it took us a few weeks to get to it, considering Hannah’s wedding was at that point only a few weeks past, but we did end up getting it done. We started cooking at noon and didn’t stop until dinner was served at 6:00! We made five courses but I am going to go ahead and admit that we didn’t exactly follow all of the rules! So, If you are interested in doing things in a little bit more of an exact manner, I found some links for information you might want if you decide to try this!
We had to prepare not one but two pathetic looking poor little cornish hens. Dinner was almost canceled indefinitely when I had to stuff them to be baked. It was a little scarring. I hate working with meat.
And of course we had to have fancy menu cards.
Fresh Salad in a Cucumber Bowl
Tomato Basil Soup
Roasted Cornish Hen
Salted Caramel Chocolate Cake
We decorated the dining room like a fancy restaurant, strung french bulbs overhead and played authentic french music. (which we’ve also acquired quite a taste for!)
We tried to be quite officious in our serving but it’s a little bit unrealistic to think that we could quell the occasional giggling fit as we were pretending to be official waitresses.
All in all I think they enjoyed it quite a bit and we are thinking about making it apart of their Christmas present every year!
