So, Valentine’s Day isn’t that huge of a deal at our house but we still like to make it a little bit of a special day, Dad always buys us all red roses (he’s so sweet!) and we have a fancy dinner, but yesterday I was struck by the urge to make something Valentine’s day themed, so I looked on pinterest. Of course it was pinterest. I found the idea to make a pillow with a gold heart emblazoned on the front! So I dug out our mod podge, assorted colors of glitter, sewed up a quick pillow cover and set to work! It turned out pretty good for being such a quick project!
I like Valentine’s Day as much as the next person but I am not a big fan of pink so this pillow was the perfect choice.
You will need: Mod Podge, glitter, a pen, a bowl, a pillow, and a paintbrush
I used a pillow cover I made just so that it would be easier to handle and draw on. Trace the shape you want onto the pillow with a pencil, it doesn’t have to be too exact.
Then fill it in with mod podge making sure it is pretty decently thick so that the glitter will stick.
Then pour the glitter over the glue covered area making sure you don’t miss any spots then pour the excess glitter into your bowl.
Then using a toothpick dip it in mod podge and make little dots of glue shooting outward from the heart getting fewer and farther apart as much as you like. You can put as much effort and work into this part as you want to. Then just sprinkle the leftover glitter in your bowl over the glue bespeckled area.
It will probably take at least an hour to dry depending on how thick you put on the glue.
And you are done! Its easier than it looks once its finished! As I was posting this I was looking at the pictures and from far away it actually looks like its beaded!
There you have it! An easy one hour project to brighten up your living room this Valentine’s Day!
