For my Valentine’s day cards this year I decided I wanted to try something a little bit different. So I looked around on pinterest and found a couple pictures of the most gorgeous paper roses! I made up a whole bunch of them and gave each member of my family an individual rose with a little note attached! Voila! Easiest Valentine’s Day gifts ever! Then, this past weekend Lydia and I worked at The Antique Shoppe and I needed a little something to keep me busy so I got it into my head that I was going to make a whole bouquet of paper roses. I loved the way they turned out! I think the next time I make one I will make it in more natural colors, but for this time I like how the gold turned out!
You will need: matches, scissors, hot glue gun, jute or ribbon, spray paint, and you can get a paper rose template here.
Trim the petals and roses. They don’t have to be perfect, having some small imperfections will make them more interesting!
Curl each petal individually.
Dab some glue onto the base of the first petal, then wrap it around the match.
Do the same thing with the second and third petal.
For the next four petals dab some glue onto the flap of the petal and fold it into a cone shape.
Cut a small hole into the bottom of each layer of petals.
Add glue to the center of petal #4. Then place center petals into the middle of petal #4.
Then slowly layer the rest of the petals onto the match.
It should look similar to this once its done.
Depending on whether you printed your rose petals in color or not, you can either leave your petals plain or you can spray paint like I did. And then you’re done!
You can also make a whole bouquets of these flowers, but make sure your day is cleared because they take a really long time!
You just have to wrap floral wire around the base of the flower to give it a longer stem to work with.
