Hey Everyone! We wanted to share with you some pictures from our recent canoeing trip on the Flambeau River. It was a father daughter trip and we were gone for a total of three days. We would spend the night at a campsite in tents and then in the morning we would eat breakfast, pack everything up, put it in the canoes and take off! I was a little bit trepidatious about the canoeing because the last time our family went canoeing it was at turkey run and Hannah, Lydia, and I were in a canoe together. Not a good choice. All the other people on the river were probably like ” Watch out for those three girls in the canoe they have no idea what they’re doing!” But it turned out fine, we got pretty good at rowing and steering by the time the trip was over! Although there were definitely some sore arms and shoulders by the time we got to the end! When we started out the first day it was raining, soooo not a good start to our canoeing trip. But it was only a sprinkle and ended up stopping soon after. (please be gracious and ignore our dorky rain gear in these pictures, mine in particular!)
Lunch was always a big highlight. Fortunately our lunch never got tipped into the river so we didn’t have to go hunting squirrels and other small wild life or anything. Which is good, when you consider.
The river really was very beautiful. Besides the occasional rain shower the weather was wonderful.
These two were probably the only annoying ones on the river. They kept bashing into me and Hannah’s boat and pushing us off course with their paddles! Like we weren’t having enough trouble steering in the first place!
We were told that if you didn’t tie your boat really good, it would float away. We made sure they were tied up really good.
Lunch time on day two!
Yay for no showers!
On the second day just before we got to where we were camping that night, we came upon this really pretty inlet that had this perfect tree on it. Of course, Gracie couldn’t resist the perfect picture moment. 🙂
Breakfast on the last morning was especially delicious! We had heated tortilla shells with maple syrup and fruit wrapped in them, pretty much amazing!
Group picture with all these lovely ladies!
And one with all our great fathers that brought us on this trip.
And one of just us. Ugh. My eyes are closed. Nice.
My eyes are closed again! What is with all these pictures?!
This picture would be a good indicator of the attitude that was shown on this trip, eh it’ll be fine just wash up in the river.
Well hope you enjoyed! Check in again soon. You never know what we’re doing next!
