What is it about not being able to sleep that is so horrifying? Last sunday we had some friends over for supper and had some coffee and dessert afterwards. Now keep in mind this coffee was supposed to be decaffeinated! About ten o-clock we went to bed, aaaand I couldn’t go to sleep. Not only could I not go to sleep I wasn’t even tired! I think I lay there for about two hours, After a while I was kind of thinking “Wow, It’s just me and my mind and I don’t have anything to drown out my thoughts!” I could hear Lydia moving around too so I knew she wasn’t asleep yet. After two hours of lyingawakeinbedness I heard Hannah moving around, and Lydia whispers to me “Is that Hannah? Is she awake?” “Yup, She’s awake too.” Lovely. So Lydia hopped out of bed and went to talk to Hannah. After a minute of hearing whispering, I hopped out of bed to see what was happening. We all whispered for a second then decided to throw in the towel and just go downstairs. We figured being completely awake was better than going to the futile effort of trying to sleep! We tiptoed as quietly as possible down the stairs and made some tea. Sleepytime tea that is. Most definitely not caffeinated! So we just sat there for about an hour and chatted!
So I suppose the moral of the story is: always make sure that coffee you’re drinking really is decaffeinated! And always make sure you have a full supply of sleepytime tea in the cupboard!
