Hey guys! Christmas is almost here so this post is definitely a bit late. Ah well, its not like I’m known for being on time anyway. Every year Lydia decorates pretty much the entire house with wreaths, garlands, and ornaments galore so if you’re not in the Christmas spirit by December 1st you will be soon! Lydia and I did a project for the fireplace mantle a couple weeks ago that was pretty cool so I thought I would share it with you guys.
All you’ll need is:
Some old jars or bottles
Krylon Looking Glass Mirror Like Paint (shown below)
Paper towels
A spray bottle full of half water half vinegar.
I would suggest taking this project outside as the paint could get a little fumy.
Cover the bottle with a layer of the paint
Don’t wait for the paint to dry but go ahead and spray a fine mist of the vinegar and water mixture over the bottle.
Wait a minute or two then gently dab the water off. If you want a different look you could rub the paint off in some places.
The result! For awhile we couldn’t find anything to go in the middle but then found this cute little gold Christmas tree at Ruby Begonia’s that we thought was just right. Hope you have fun with this project and feel free to leave comments below.

The bottle turned out great!! Love them!
Beautiful! I wanted to pin it to one of my boards and it won't let me. Guess I'll just need to save it in my e-mail! Merry Christmas to all of you!
Is that one strand of lights?
Yes!
Do you know if the paint comes in different colors?
I think if you just check at your local craft store you might be able to find it in other metallic colors!
I think it does! I would just check at your local craft store or on Amazon.com. There should be varieties like gold, silver and bronze.
Haven’t tried this yet, but after Looking Glass Paint applied, may mix color in vinegar/water spray, use on bottom half of vase and see if it works like I hope it will. Different color added to compliment whatever color flower I plan to use.
That’s a great idea!
Thank you!
Love it! And the banner too
How did you get the lights in the bottles, did I miss that???
Haha yes you did!! We just pushed them inside, but there are other tutorials out there for drilling into it, we just didn’t want to do that much work 😂 just stuff them right in!!
