Man, I am really not on top of the posting thing, as you can see the last 2 posts have been tread on trafficking updates! And to boot, this is late. Again. As I said last time, Eh who cares! 🙂 So, this week we ran 15 miles total each and worked out for an hour and a half each throughout the week. Kind of dropped the ball on the working out thing. Oh well, If you can’t tell yet that is a phrase I use quite often. 🙂 So, funny story about our running this week. Jacob and Bethany were able to visit us this week so Lydia and I came up with the bright idea that we could take Jake with us when we went running. Yeah. Not so smart. Jacob being the cross fit guru decided that it would be fun to see just how far he could push us. We were thinking maybe he would come with us and give us a few tips on form and breathing exercises and such, well that’s not quite how it went. 🙂 We started out with the nice brisk pace we usually set. For the first three blocks that is. Jacob was having none of that. We ran a whole half mile without stopping, and when I say running I mean flat out running. Jacob would have none of what he called our “crazy talk” such as that we were about to throw up. 🙂 And I mean quite literally about to throw up. (We very wisely scheduled our run for right after breakfast, you see.) So anyway we ran the whole first half mile and he very kindly allowed us to walk at a brisk pace for one block, to you know, catch our breath. Then we were again driven at a exhausting pace for the rest of the mile. Once we got back to the house Jacob immediately set us to doing ten push-ups, ten sit-ups, and ten squats. All very quickly. Then we were pushed into the road for our second mile which was if possible even more brutal than the first. I personally thought I was going to die and that Jake, ( who annoyingly wasn’t even breaking a sweat at this point) was going to have to carry me all the way back home. At the end of the second mile we staggered back onto our lawn and fell into formation for another ten push-ups, ten sit-ups, and ten squats. And then as if that wasn’t enough we then did eight push-ups, ten sit-ups, and ten squats. And then six and then five and then three and then one. At this point I seriously think that I’ve never been in that much pain. 🙂 Actually I don’t know about that. But it was bad. Grace and I were dripping in sweat and gasping for breath. Then Jake told us to get on our bikes and bike the last mile as fast as we possibly could. So at this point that was not very fast at all. 🙂 After we got back, gasping and muscles screaming, we had to do ten burpees. I’m not really sure if you guys know what a burpee is. If you do know what a burpee is than you understand our pain. If not then I shall enlighten you. First you place your hands on the ground directly in front of your feet, kick your feet out behind you into push-up position dropping down into a push-up in one motion. Then kick your feet back to your hands, stand up and jump in the air clapping your hands above your head. And you are technically supposed to do all that in one motion, but as you can imagine by that time we weren’t really doing anything fast. Burpees are no fun. No fun. 🙂 Anyway, after that we did a series of stretches that concluded our workout. Jacob claimed we were, and I quote, “sandbagging” Which to him means, not working hard enough. 🙂 O well, it was really good because Jacob really knows what he is talking about. So we needed some straightening out. Jake also set us to barefoot running and fixed our running form. Well, thanks Jake, we appreciate the wake-up call and are now doing that same workout every day, so we really do appreciate it. You can just disregard whatever we said when we were running with you. We weren’t coherent. 🙂 We’re getting closer to being done with this Tread on Trafficking Charity but we aren’t done quite yet so we will probably have some more funny story’s before this is over, never fear you will probably get a chance to laugh at our expense a couple more times. So, anyway I’ll be posting about Lydia’s graduation party soon so be sure to check in!
