This last summer we went on vacation with the whole family to the Smokey Mountains. We rented a huge house and Jake and Bethany drove up from Texas. We had a blast! We spent an entire week there just hanging out in the house, soaking in the hot tub, and we even found a car show! We could find a car show anywhere. 🙂 So thought we’d share a few pictures. Enjoy!
The first day of travel we went to the Creation Museum. We had a really good time wandering around the museum doing our usual Zimmerman antic’s that included dinosaur impersonations, dinosaur riding contests and laughing too loud in the theater.
Notice the very scary looking mountain lion poised to attack, the girls are panicking.)
Alex and I had spent a little too much time in the museum!!!
Alex was our over all champion at air hockey! And trust me he had enough of a chance to beat everybody soundly, we played what seemed like a million games!
This photograph was taken at the car show… I really don’t have much to say besides this. That is Hannah and Elia being… Hannah and Elia. Impersonating the Blues Brothers. I’m pretty sure they should be fined or something.
Alex is upset about something. Obviously.
Bethany with her car of choice.
Every morning that we stayed at the cabin Elia came into me (Lydia) and Grace’s room and gave us a different (creative) wake up call! Here they are:
1. There’s a fire and we need to evacuate!
2. The smurf’s stole my bed and I don’t have anywhere to sleep!
3.There’s a bear in the hot tub and he drank all my orange juice!
4. I have the last peach in the whole world and I came to share it with you!
5.Hannah, your man is at the front door, come and meet him!
I am a fountain. Hehe.
One day we climbed the Chimney Tops trail. It was very fun, and very very very loooonnnng. This is almost to the top.
We arrived at the top and took a whole host of strange and humorous pictures. This is Hannah saving Elia from falling to her certain death.
This is Bethany, screaming and clinging to the cliff. We let her fall.
Hannah, Lydia and Leah.
Alex crossing the rapids scooting on a log.
Cute, Bethany. 🙂
About half way up the falls there was a little waterfall and pool. There were no signs that said no swimming so… We went swimming.
I hope this picture is big enough for you to see the various facial expressions. The water was freezing! SO cold! Of course, the crazy boys went in first and then dared us girls to get in. We put our feet in the water, we knew how cold it was, but… they dared us. So we did. I guess we thought it was funny at the time to all dunk under the water at the same time and stay under for like 10 seconds. It was soooo cold. I’m pretty sure I wasn’t warm for a week!
Bethany especially was resistant to the idea of getting in the frigid pool. Here she is desperately clawing her way out.
Then soaking wet, we decided to stop and eat lunch. Did I mention that it was freezing? And breezy? I was probably the least intelligent of all of them because I wasn’t even wearing a swimming suit! Just t-shirt and shorts!
Shh… I am meditating.. No wait my nose itches.
This picture was taken at the Smokey Mountain National Park. We all climbed up to the top of the falls. Hannah and Elia both got stung by a very obnoxious bee. That was a little painful.
I would love for somebody to tell me why we actually touched these. It’s really nasty.
The whole trip we were trying to get the perfect family picture for our Christmas card. So we were continually dragging the boys to various scenic spots and clicking pictures. The “perfect” picture can be found as one of our profile pictures just in case you were wondering. 🙂 We are looking forward to another family vacation when we go to Florida in August. Can’t wait!! Thanks for checking in and hope you enjoyed the pictures!
