Hey Everybody, Lydia here. In our house I’m known for my various “experiments” in skin and hair care. A few of them have succeeded and a lot of them have not. 🙂 I remember one instance in particular where I was trying this thing where you put mayonnaise in your hair 20 min. before you shower and then shampoo it out. It’s supposed to add volume, not that my unruly waves need any volume whatsoever. Anyway, I had put the mayonnaise in my hair and you have no idea how disgusting it is if it starts to run down out of your hair and onto you! So I had this brilliant idea (It really was a quite clever solution). I grabbed a 1 gallon ziplock bag from the drawer and scurried into the bathroom to pull it over my head and sloppy curls. It was quite a tight fit so it kind of filled with air and stood straight up of my head. Now my bright plan was to go upstairs to take my shower. As luck would have it, Hannah was sitting at the breakfast room table calmly staring at her computer screen. I thought I could maybe slip past without her seeing me since her back was to me. But just in case, I straightened my shoulders, lifted my chin, and lengthened my stride so in case she should turn around I would be striding past in a regal dignified air. So I set out to cross what seemed like a mile trek that was probably only in reality 15 ft. that was the floor space till the next room’s doorway. I walked past and had almost made it to the front hall and was thinking about breathing a sigh of relief when I heard her break out into uproarious laughter and knew that I had been found out in all my plastic bagged splendor. So I had to walk back to the breakfast room with slumped shoulders to face the humiliation that was sure to follow as she asked me what in the world I was doing and had a good laugh at my expense. 🙂 There, now that I’ve entertained you with my embarrassing story I’ll give you the recipe to a few of those strange experiments that actually works.
This is the recipe to a body scrub that Grace discovered that’s really easy to make and has simple ingredients. It is a moisturizer and exfoliator. It is really great! The only tip I will give you is that I made the mistake a few times and got some in my hair. Bad idea! As you’ll see a ways down there’s olive oil in it so it’s really not a good idea to have in your hair!
1 Cup brown sugar.
1 Cup of oatmeal.
1 Cup of olive oil.
Stir it all together.
This should be what it looks like when your done. For best results put it on 10 min. before you shower and then just rinse off. Your skin feels like butter it’s so soft! We’ve figured out the hard way that the oatmeal likes to stick to your bathtub! So you gotta watch that. 🙂
Here’s the next recipe. This one’s a facial. It’s really simple but works well. 🙂
1 TBSP. honey.
1 TBSP. of milk.
Beat together with a fork.
Just rub on your face and neck, leave it for 10 mins. and rinse off. This is really a moisturizer, I tried it today and loved it. It was very sticky! But worth it. 🙂 It makes your face feel really soft. I like to find all natural recipes for hair and facials that you can make at home. Hope you enjoy and try the recipes!
